Celebrating the cranes and the places they sing and dance

Each year since 2000, Alachua Conservation Trust and supporters have gathered to celebrate the contributions of people in the land conservation movement. Past "Conservation Stewards" have included scientists and activists, environmental educators and philanthropists, all of whom have been an inspiration in our work to save our special places.

The Tenth Annual Dinner and Fundraiser will be at Hickory Ranch at Paynes Prairie. Half the proceeds of the event will benefit the Friends of Paynes Prairie in their mission to provide funding and volunteers to Florida's first state preserve.

SCHEDULE:

  • Cocktail hour with music and sunset walks to the Prairie
  • BBQ including vegetarian option
  • Silent art auction

Please dress appropriately! Evening activities will be held under a high barn. We suggest cowboy/girl boots instead of high heels. We also recommend long pants and long sleeved shirts especially for taking a stroll down to the edge of Paynes Prairie.

About Hickory Ranch: formerly owned by the Cone family, Hickory Ranch was added to Paynes Prairie in 1990. This 963-acre purchase was ACT's first major land acquisition. The ranch includes wet prairie basin, an upland rim forest, and Camp's Canal, plus many structures useful for park operations. Cranes, alligators, and bobcats are common, and the wild Spanish horses and herd of bison frequent this area of Paynes Prairie. Hickory Ranch is home to Florida's largest herd of Cracker Cattle.

See you March 20th

Proceeds support the Friends of Paynes Prairie, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
