Registration is closed

Take a walk on the wild side with a prairie ranger on Cones Dike Trail.  This trail is one of the most popular trails for wildlife viewing on Paynes Prairie.  Excellent bird watching and a good chance of seeing eagles, alligators, wild horses, and bison.  The trail is 4 miles long, but we'll be walking out about 1.5 miles, so total distance for this hike will be approximately 3 miles (this is an out and back hike).

Bring water to drink, and dress for walking in full sunshine.  This trail does not have potable water or shade.

A restroom is located near the trailhead.

RSVP (free) so we can contact you if conditions change or the hike is cancelled for any reason.

This hike is free, but park admission fees apply.

Enter the park at the main entrance in Micanopy, off US 441.

Cone's Dike Trailhead is located near the Visitor Center.

We will meet in the Visitor Center parking lot.
